THE 2025 THREE BOONS MIDSUMMER YOGA FEST ON RÜGEN: In sync - Back to nature

THREE BOONS YOGA BERLIN presents…

In Sync - Back to Nature:

THE 2025 THREE BOONS MIDSUMMER YOGA FEST

feat. Anja & Rowena, Sarah, Juju + DJ Pete + powered by Alessia from our legendary Canteen

JUNE 19/20 - 22/23, 2025 ON RÜGEN ISLAND

We invite all Three Boons and Jivamukti Yoga students from Berlin, Germany, and the whole wide world to join us in celebrating Midsummer and the Summer Solstice during the auspicious checksum 9 year of 2025. Celebrate Yogi*ni-style in nature and togetherness at our newly envisioned Three Boons Midsummer Yoga Fest, held at our favorite local yoga retreat location — a private mini-island on Rügen Island.

This new local communal retreat concept offers an evolutionary take on a local Jivamukti Yoga summer retreat weekend, open to everyone. Together, we’ll gather in one of northern Germany’s most stunning natural hideaways to practice and celebrate yoga with the Three Boons Yoga teacher and student community during this important and powerful apex of the year.

We will gather, practice, retreat, and celebrate Midsummer on our own exclusive private mini-island within the larger Rügen Island. Except, our mini-island and its surrounding bay waters are so remote and empty that it is a popular spot for huge birdlife gatherings. What better company could yogis wish for?

In addition to endless nature and birdlife, our mini-island also features a renaissance manor, a big open roofed outdoor platform surrounded by huge nature meadows, baltic lagoons (Wieks) and apple orchards and an outdoor sauna plus the Baltic Sea in walking distances.

Look forward to a special yoga, workshop and music program with Three Boons director Anja and a special crew of our resident Three Boons teachers such as Rowena, Sarah and our legendary 3B Sonic Serenity team Juju + DJ Pete (Hard Wax, Ostgut Ton [Berghain], Chain Reaction).

Our beloved Alessia, from the legendary Jivamukti canteen, will be orchestrating culinary magic in the kitchen, supported by the wonderful Pauline. Together, they will prepare and serve delicious vegan meals for us on the ground floor of the Renaissance manor—a perfect setting to nourish body and soul.

The manor’s indoor spaces on the ground floor will host our yoga fest classes and events if needed, while the outdoor meadows and platform will be our sanctuary for outdoor chanting, meditations, moonlit and starlit gatherings, yogic celebrations, and vegan barbecues.

For a full-on midsummer nature immersion and in order to make our Three Boons midsummer yoga fest accessible for more students, we are opening the meadows on our private mini-island on Rügen for students who prefer to bring their own tent or camper and “glamp” in the middle of nature. “Glamp”, because the meadows are not only nature pure but the outdoor platform right next to them also comes with deluxe bathrooms and showers to be used by our glampers. Of course, our yoga fest glampers also have access to the ground floor of the renaissance manor, the vegan meals and all yoga classes. Only they sleep right beneath the midsummer stars of 2025.

For those seeking more traditional accommodations, our deluxe Renaissance manor offers beautiful rooms for a comfortable and luxurious retreat.

What better place and time to embrace the energy of midsummer and set an auspicious tone for the summer season ahead?

We look forward to sharing this extraordinary experience with you. See you under the midsummer sun (and stars)!

GENERAL INFO ON THE YOGA PROGRAM & OTHER ACTIVITIES

THE THEME: IN SYNC - BACK TO NATURE

Rediscover balance and harmony on our secluded private mini-island on Rügen, where nature’s pristine beauty becomes your sanctuary. Far from the distractions of daily life and tourists, this midsummer yoga fest retreat is your invitation to align with the rhythms of the earth and your own inner nature.

Through the lens of Jivamukti Yoga, our classes and workshops will explore what it means to be "in sync"—physically, mentally, and spiritually. The practices will focus on harmonizing the body and breath through asana and kriya, connecting deeply with prana through pranayama, and attuning the mind to universal truths through yogic philosophy and meditation. Each morning begins with chanting and meditation to awaken your inner stillness, followed by dynamic yoga sessions designed to guide you back into flow with yourself and your surroundings.

Complementing these practices, Alessia and her team will nourish your body with thoughtfully prepared, plant-based meals, grounding you in the simplicity and vitality of nature’s offerings.

To enhance this year’s retreat, we’ve expanded into the meadows and sheds of our island to create an immersive glamping experience. You’ll practice under open skies, meditate by moonlight, and move with the natural rhythm of the day as we bring yoga closer to its roots—both in nature and within ourselves.

This retreat is more than a summer getaway; it’s a journey into alignment, connection, and renewal—a chance to feel truly "sync" with yourself and the world around you.

THE YOGA PROGRAM:

Our Three Boons Midsummer Yoga Fest retreat offers a unique and transformative fusion of yoga, music, and nature. Led by Three Boons Director Anja, alongside Rowena, Sarah, and the 3B Sonic Serenity Crew—Juju and DJ Pete—this retreat harmonizes the intimate experience of a yoga retreat with the vibrant energy of a mini yoga festival, set amidst the serene beauty of nature.

Immerse yourself in the Jivamukti Yoga tradition, with offerings that include asana, kriya, pranayama, yoga philosophy, and uplifting music. Each day begins with chanting and meditation, grounding you in stillness and setting the tone for a deeply connected practice. This is followed by a dynamic, three-hour Jivamukti Yoga class designed to energize and inspire.

Afternoons feature a two-hour, workshop-style class, delving into specific aspects of the practice. Whether you’re curious about a particular technique, pose, or philosophy, we invite you to share your interests in advance so we can tailor the program to meet your needs.

Evenings offer a chance to connect further, with Satsang, chanting, moonlit meditations, an open-air Sonic Serenity session, and cozy bonfires beneath the midsummer stars—moments of reflection and joy to deepen your retreat experience.

Complement your yoga journey with thoughtfully prepared, plant-based meals by Alessia and Pauli, and enjoy access to a range of activities, including sauna sessions, swimming, sunbathing, hiking, jogging.

MORE INFO ON THE LOCATION

The unexpected two-year hiatus from our Rügen retreats, brought on by the pandemic, turned into a blessing in disguise—it led us to discover a truly magical new retreat location.

Since 2023, our local baltic sea retreats have been held in an enchanting Renaissance manor situated on its own private mini-island, nestled within the larger expanse of Rügen Island. For one weekend only, this serene haven becomes ours to explore and enjoy. The only other residents sharing this peaceful sanctuary are the hundreds of birds that thrive in its tranquil remoteness—perfect company for yogis seeking connection with nature.

Tucked away at the end of a tiny road, amidst wheat fields, paddocks, and protected coastal bays, this exclusive island is surrounded by a shallow seawater bay, or "Wiek," which is part of a natural conservation area. The bay’s shimmering waters provide a mesmerizing display of light and color throughout the year and serve as a haven for diverse bird species, including cranes, herons, cormorants, grey geese, and ducks.

The Renaissance manor, originally built in 1553, fell into disrepair in the 1960s but has since been lovingly restored to its former glory and beyond. Maintaining its historic charm while incorporating modern comforts, the manor offers spacious, light-filled rooms perfect for both yoga practice and relaxation. Its enchanting atmosphere invites you to breathe deeply, feel grounded, and reconnect with yourself and the natural world.

Nature enthusiasts will revel in the bird colonies and nature reserve surrounding the manor, offering spectacular walks under the vast skies of northern Germany. Whether wandering through the landscape or practicing yoga outdoors, this location invites you to dive deeply into the rhythm of nature.

To elevate your experience, our retreat island also features outdoor saunas, fire pits, and a rustic yet charming shed for open-air yoga and chanting sessions.

This serene and unique location offers a perfect setting for our midsummer retreat—allowing you to immerse yourself in nature, history, and the transformational power of yoga.

THE FOOD

In harmony with an extensive and intense yoga practice, a healthy and nutritious diet plays an essential role in supporting your physical and spiritual well-being. Our retreat menu is designed to provide all the vital nutrients your body needs, prepared in forms that are as delicious as they are digestible.

Using only super fresh, local, and certified organic ingredients, our vegan cuisine dramatically reduces toxins, stimulates the body’s natural detoxification processes, and protects the environment—all while delighting your taste buds. This retreat offers a chance to experience how a super-healthy vegan lifestyle can be vibrant and flavorful, with plenty of inspiration to take back to your own kitchen and yoga practice at home.

The culinary heart of the retreat is a revival of our legendary Jivamukti Canteen. After the pandemic, its spirit continues to thrive and evolve through our local retreats in Europe. At the center of this experience is our beloved Alessia Cecconi, former head chef of the Jivamukti Canteen, supported by select members of our team. Together, they embody the Jivamukti Canteen philosophy, rooted in the use of the finest vegan, locally sourced, and in Germany, exclusively 100% certified organic ingredients.

Prepared in Alessia’s signature Italian-infused home-cooking style, these meals are consistently praised by participants for their authenticity, creativity, and soul-satisfying flavors. Whether you’re savoring a colorful salad, hearty main dish, or indulgent dessert, this culinary experience is sure to nourish your body and leave you inspired.

Join us to rediscover how food can be a vital part of your yoga journey, connecting you to nature, your practice, and the joy of sharing wholesome meals with others.

ANJA KÜHNEL + The Three Boons teacher faculty

Our Three Boons midsummer yoga fest retreat will be headlined by Three Boons director Anja and joined our Three Boons yoga teacher faculty who will be co-creating a fusion experience of a mini intimate yogafest(ival) in a yoga retreat setting in the middle of nature.

Anja has been a devoted student of Sharon Gannon and David Life since she first met them while temporarily living in New York. She has been directing the two Berlin Jivamukti Yoga Centers, now Three Boons Yoga Berlin, and their Teacher Training and Apprenticeship program since 2008. After 15 years of study with Sharon and David, Anja is more than grateful for all she has learned and all that she is still going to learn. Anja has been practicing yoga with teachers of various yoga styles and has traveled the world to do so. But in her heart, Anja knew immediately after her first Jivamukti class, that it was where she belonged.

ROWENA JOHNSON

Rowena has been practicing yoga asana since 2008. What began as a purely physical pursuit soon evolved into a deeper awareness of the interconnectedness of body, mind, and spirit. Her curiosity about the history and physiology of yoga led her to explore through workshops, retreats, and eventually her first 200-hour teacher training in India in 2016.

Since then, Rowena has taught yoga across the UK, Central and South America, and as a lead teacher in a 200-hour teacher training course in India. Believing in the importance of being a student first and foremost, Rowena has continued her studies under revered teachers. She has practiced Ashtanga yoga with Sharath Jois at KPJAYI in Mysore and deepened her understanding of Jivamukti Yoga with David Life, Anja Kuehnel, and Rima Rani Rabbath in Costa Rica.

Rowena is profoundly grateful to the special teachers who have influenced her path, including Netta Imber, Corrie Ananda Preece, Cat Alip Douglas, and Harmony Slater. Their wisdom continues to inspire her practice and teaching.

Her journey is guided by the mantra:
Asato mā sadgamaya

SARAH WEBER

Sarah is deeply inspired by the Spiritual Activism of Jivamukti Yoga and is passionate about spreading the message of Ahimsa and a vegan lifestyle, which she sees as the ultimate expression of love for all life.

Her journey as a teacher began with the 300-hour Jivamukti Yoga Teacher Training in February 2015 at Govardhan Eco Village in India, the ashram of Radhanath Swami. She later completed her 800-hour apprenticeship under her mentor and teacher Anja Kühnel in 2017.

For three consecutive years, Sarah immersed herself in intensive studies with Jivamukti Yoga founders Sharon Gannonand David Life at their home in Woodstock, New York. Guided by the belief that “when the student is ready, the teacher appears,” Sarah has remained devoted to continuous learning and growth.

She is profoundly grateful to all the teachers who have shaped her path, including Antje Schäfer, Petros Haffenrichter, Jules Febre, Lady Ruth, Yogeswari, and most significantly Anja-jii. Her gratitude extends, of course, to Sharon Gannon and David Life, whose vision brought Jivamukti Yoga to life.

SVAHA!

JuJu

[350+hour certified Three Boons Yoga teacher]

Juju’s spiritual journey is deeply intertwined with her love of music. Inspired by the uplifting energy of the sound system music scene, she embraces yoga and meditation as practices that harmonize body, mind, and spirit—believing that music and spirituality are inseparably linked. Every beat resonates with her soul, guiding her toward a deeper connection with herself and the oneness of the universe.

With a mission to spread joy and raise vibrations, Juju incorporates her passion for music into her teaching. Her yoga classes are a unique fusion of movement and mindfulness, accompanied by thoughtfully curated playlists that create a transformative experience. Juju believes in the healing power of bass, using it as a tool to help others connect, elevate, and transcend.

Constantly exploring new sounds and spiritual practices, Juju embodies a vibrant and dynamic energy that inspires those around her. She warmly invites everyone to join her on this rhythmic journey of self-discovery, where community and creativity unite.

DJ PETE

(Hard Wax, Ostgut Ton [Berghain], Chain Reaction, long-time Ashtanga and Three Boons Yoga practitioner)

To understand DJ Pete’s iconic status in Techno culture, one must journey back to the pioneering days of Berlin’s underground scene in the late 1980s. A central figure from the outset, Pete joined the legendary Hard Wax record store in 1991, a hub for shaping Berlin’s electronic music landscape.

As a producer, Pete cemented his influence with the first release on Chain Reaction in 1995, a sub-label of the renowned Basic Channel imprint. Together with René Löwe (aka Vainqueur) as Scion, he pushed the boundaries of Techno’s evolution. His prolific career includes a catalog of groundbreaking solo productions and remixes for key figures like Juan Atkins, Regis, Kessell, Orphx, Robert Hood, Rhythm & Sound, Monolake, and Shed, to name a few.

Behind the decks, DJ Pete is revered for his refined mixing skills, encyclopedic knowledge of Techno history, and relentless pursuit of new, boundary-pushing sounds. His electrifying sets are a dynamic fusion of pure Techno, the Hard Wax tradition, and powerful House grooves, enriched by his ability to merge genres like Techno and Dubstep or select deep Reggae cuts for the Killasan sound system during seminal Wax Treatment events.

Pete’s legacy is deeply tied to Berlin’s most iconic venues, from Dynamic Tension nights at Tresor in the late '90s with Surgeon to his residency at Berghain since its opening. His presence on the international circuit continues to define the scene’s most pivotal moments.

Beyond his musical prowess, Pete’s long-standing practice of Ashtanga Yoga and involvement with Three Boons Yogareflect his commitment to personal balance and inner exploration. His ability to bridge the worlds of music and mindfulness adds an inspiring depth to his artistic journey.
